Today's Fanboy Delusion

Today I'd rather be...

... sponging down Colin Farrell.

"What have you done to me, you vengeful bitches!!!" Man oh man the hot house of a trailer for Sofia Coppola's The Beguiled - a remake of the 1971 film with Clint Eastwood - has just arrived and I am ants on a picnic basket into this shit. See our previous post on the movie here - it stars Farrell as a wounded Union soldier...

... looking all kinds of old-timey excellent, who is taken in by a bunch of Southern ladies (played by Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning and Kirsten Dunst) and nursed back to health while everybody's hormones flood the place silly. Watch!
.
.
 A couple of images were released earlier today;
see 'em here. This movie's out on June 22nd.

Where is the Geraldine Page scene chewing? Why does everyone look like a wax sculpture? They could have at least eased up on the botox before the shoot... This feels too sedate by half! It's 2017 and it looks like the 1971 version but neutered.

What the WHAT???!!! How did I previously miss news of this remake?! Jason, I have to share with you that I had never seen the original, and then I read a review you wrote back in the day in which you described it as a hybrid of "North & South," "Misery" and "Flowers in the Attic." That put me on the fast-track to watching it and it gave all the right kinds of perverse feels. I will keep my expectations low for the remake, but definitely have to check it out.

Strange casting choices. Did they have botox and fillers in 1864?

What happened to the character of Hallie the maid? She was my favorite character in the film. I didn't see anything in the trailer hinting her existence.
