In the Mountains of Idris

.
THR is reporting that Charlie Hunnam is out and his Pacific Rim partner Idris Elba is in as the star of The Mountain Between Us, a romantic thriller about a couple who gets stranded in the wilderness after a plane crash, only to fall in love among the reeds and/or adversities. It's based on a best-selling book by Charles Martin. When Charlie was going to star in it (see our previous post here) it was Margot Robbie and then Rosamund Pike who were going to play opposite him; no word on where they'll go casting-wise now but it doesn't sound like it will be either of them there blonde ladies. And here's where I make my pitch for the film to star both Idris AND Charlie and for it to now be about the two of them falling in love. Pretty please? Seriously. PLEASE?

Not sure why it still couldn't be Pike as she's actually somewhat near Elba's age, right? Oh wait, I just answered why.

Or maybe even the year 20-freakin'-15 they don't think a black man can have a white love interest?

I was going to mention the race thing but didn't really want to wade into it - since they are the ones saying they're re-casting I figured I'd wait and see. But yes I agree, and I figured by pairing Idris with Charlie I would make that clear ;)

Excellent point about the age thing, too
