Today is the 55th birthday of Michael Schoeffling, the model turned actor forever known as "Jake Ryan" from Sixteen Candles and the platonic ideal of my pre-teen dreams. One of these years I'll run out of old modeling pictures of him to post -- since he's disappeared from public life for the past twenty-four years it's inevitable -- but I can thankfully say that day is not today!
