Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

The Goonies (1985)

Mrs. Walsh: Pants and shirts go in the... oh, forget about it.
Just throw everything into cardboard boxes.
Clark, can you really translate all that?
Mouth: For sure, Mrs. Walsh.
[in Spanish] The marijuana goes in the top drawer.
The cocaine and speed go in the second drawer.
And the heroin goes in the bottom drawer.
Always separate the drugs.

I almost did a post celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Goonies earlier (it came out on June 7th, 1985), I just hadn't gotten around to it, only to now read that Mary Ellen Trainor, the actress who played Mikey and Brand's mother, has just died - how awful! She was wonderful and warm in her small role in this film, not to mention memorable in a slew of 80s and 90s movies like Die Hard and the Lethal Weapon films. Most importantly she played Kathleen Turner's sister in Romancing the Stone, the one who gets kidnapped by the Colombians -- "They'll cut me, Joanie..."

-- and sets the entire plot in motion. I had no idea she was married to Robert Zemeckis for 20 years. THR says she died of pancreatic cancer. RIP you great lady.

Tears. All of the tears. Buckets and buckets and buckets worth. All of the great souls we've lost from The Goonies cast that we'll never have again always sends me spiralling. What a loss. May all the goonies pour stolen gems out of their marble bags and into your hands for all time.

Bloody Munchkin.
