Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

About Time (2013)

Tim: And so he told me his secret formula for happiness. Part one of the two part plan was that I should just get on with ordinary life, living it day by day, like anyone else. But then came part two of Dad's plan. He told me to live every day again almost exactly the same. The first time with all the tensions and worries that stop us noticing how sweet the world can be, but the second time noticing. Okay, Dad. Let's give it a go.

I was just trying to convince somebody the other day that About Time's not a bad movie (it didn't go well) but it totally isn't a bad movie, I don't care what anybody says. I found it pretty charming and sweet. (Here's my review.) Anyway a happy 32nd birthday to Domhnall Gleeson today! He is doing very well for himself, isn't he?

I just realized - there was no picture of him among the Star Wars pictures released this week, was there? We don't ever see him in the trailer either, do we? I have no idea what he's playing. Is he going to be CG like Lupita apparently is? Anybody?

I agree that this is a good movie (marketed as a bad one). I caught it on HBO, expecting a Hugh Grant re-tread, but it was more than that. If you can get past the initial rom-com tropes, it becomes a sweet meditation on the meaning of life. And Gleason is a charmer.

I put this off because of the poster art. It just looked so trite and fluffy but it read some very positive comments about it and gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised.

Towards the end I found myself very moved by this movie.
