Patricia Hitchcock is so kind to act out the exact moment I read the news that the team behind Gone Girl are remaking her father's masterpiece Strangers on a Train. I might never stop laughing from having read the phrase "[Ben] Affleck will play a variation of the role played by Farley Granger..." Laughing laughing laughing until I die.

What a ghastly idea. Why would they want to do that when they can't possibly improve it?
If they want to remake a Hitchcock movie why not Topaz? That one had a good idea but is one of the master's misses. Probably his worst film, that's the sort of thing to take another crack at, not a masterpiece.
I just watched Strangers on a Train over Christmas and loved how it packed a subversive punch in 1950s Hollywood in 101 minutes.
Do we really need the gang that took pulpy Gone Girl and turned it into a 2.5 hour episodic thriller?
I'd love to be a fly on the wall in Hollywood meetings listening to schmucks rationalize why they need to remake classics!
Isn't Affleck a bit old for the lead role?
