While I'm well aware there are people out there that can't stand Shelley Duvall's performance in The Shining, it's a stance I find to the very core of my being unfathomable. Which is why I'm watching this week's round of "Beauty vs Beast" pitting the Torrances against each other over at The Film Experience with great interest - I am genuinely unsure of where the votes will fall. Jack's work is crazy iconic of course, and the older I get the more I do feel for his character's collapse under the weight of his own demons, but Shelley, Shelley, Shelley, she remains my next to everything. Her palpable embodiment of terror is very nearly unrivaled.
