A happy 72nd birthday to Werner Herzog today! I did a little post devoted to Woyzeck back in the day; it's a terrific little example of why we're so blessed to have been given the gift of Herzog in our lifetimes. Herzog was at BAM last night doing a conversation but I sat it out because they had the same guy doing the conversing that ruined their night with David Lynch a few months ago and I just didn't have it in me to listen to his inanity again. I don't suppose any of you guys went? Here's a report from it which doesn't let on if the interviewer was totally insufferable again but I refuse to believe he could be anything but. Anyway this isn't about him, this is about Werner wonderful Werner - happy birthday and keep making movies for fifty more years please!
