There's no reason given for his departure but Twitch is saying that Tom Hardy's backed out of starring in Takashi Miike's first English-language film The Outsider, which is about a GI that stays in Japan after WWII and becomes a member of the yakuza. We first heard about it back in June of last year, and we were highly enthusiastic. Boo, Tom Hardy! Boo. The entire production's been shut down, and since Takashi's always got fourteen things on the fire at once he'll probably just jump to the next thing, who knows if this will ever happen. I wonder what the problem was. I mean in Tom's defense it's not like he's been sitting around, he's got four films set for release in the next twelve-ish months already, including the fourth Mad Max next Spring which my god I wish that were out right this minute and sitting in front of me.
