A happy 50th birthday to Nicolas Cage today. Do you guys think he might be possible of greatness again? I really liked him around the time he won his Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas (I really need to rewatch that film, it was one of my favorites), but it's been bleaker bleaker bleakest for awhile now. Well maybe David Gordon Green will be able to tease it out of him with the upcoming film Joe. That's out in April. Til then let us hit the jump and remember that he was once upon a time a totally hot piece.

I think acting wise he is in the De niro/Pacino category - you get the same thing every time but don't mind too much. However, I think bc he has become rather eccentric he doesn't get offered the better rolls and has cost him credibility.
