I feel hesitant to report on any new projects for director Neil Marshall at this point - there have been several that've come and gone announcement-wise since he made Centurion way back in 2010, and I'm like a turtle all curled up in his shell, afraid. Poor me! Anyway Marshall has done some TV since then - notably that episode of A Game of Thrones where everything exploded and burned and was horrible - and presumably he's been working to get one of those other projects off the ground (I think I'm saddest that Burst, that 3D exploding people movie doesn't seem to be happening), and maybe this will be the one - The Playlist has word that he's adapting Skull Island: Blood of the King, a 2004 book which tells the story of Carl Denham's son (Denham was the show-boater who snatched King Kong from the jungle and put him on a New York stage - Jack Black played him in the Peter Jackson movie) and his return to the island where the big ape was found, and yadda yadda, secrets are unearthed! Something tells me (aka the book's name) that Kong had a family. Poor orphaned giant monkeys! I love the idea of Neil Marshall making a giant monsters movie, though. Love it. Give him a Peter Jackson sized budget (ha, right) and let him loose!
ETA Slash points out that Neil Marshall's wife seems to have put the kibosh on this happening on her Twitter account. Boo, boo, boo.
