I Am Link

.
--- The Grey Man - Could've sworn that I'd done a post on Francois Arnaud one time but the search function is telling me otherwise - anyway he was on The Borgias, and his name is being tossed about for 50 Shades of Grey now. He's a looker, though. Anybody seen him act? (As if starring in this movie is about acting.)

--- Live To Rim Again - Even though Pacific Rim didn't do smashing business here in the US it was a huge hit overseas, and as we all know with the way Hollywood works these days that might just be enough to get it a sequel. Guillermo Del Toro's betting on it, because he's started working on a script. The Playlist does a good job running through the whole business. As long as there's much more of this in the sequel! (And Idris Elba can get in on it, right?) Oh and Del Toro also says he's still very much in the business of making a new movie out of Roald Dahl's The Witches, in case you were wondering.

--- Love Makers - I've never seen the original Endless Love, have you? I've heard it's pretty vanilla, whereas the book is actually supposed to be super creepy, pervy and stalkerish? Well they went and remade it with Alex Pettyfer, so it's already got plenty of sleaze on that alone. Watch the trailer here, which is at least 25% Alex's shirt being taken off or him crying in the shower.

--- Everybody's a Critic - Michael Bay was assaulted by a pair of brothers in Hong Kong on the set of the next Transformers movie. They tried to get him to give them a bunch of money, and when he wouldn't, they attacked him. Hey I've wanted a refund for all the time his movies have stolen from my life too, but let's not go nuts here.

--- Sexy Witch - I totally forgot about this news the other day, but it was great to hear that Enver Gjokaj, who was so so so good on Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, got a gig... even if it's on that Lifetime witch show. I really don't get why casting directors haven't been snapping him up left and right, he's so great!

---  Getting Grimmer - Have any of you read the book A Tale Dark & Grimm? it sounds great - it's about a pair of children who escape their fairy tale story only to wander through a bunch more horrible scary tales. I want to read that! I also want to see Henry Selick make a stop-motion animated movie out of that, and hey, whaddya know! He does too!

--- Grand Ol Time - I missed this news when I just posted the trailer but Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel will be out in theaters here in the US on March 7th, 2014, so get to marking them calendars. Preferably in pink or purple, obviously.

--- Damned Spot - Everybody's favorite asshole Harvey Weinstein has snapped up (or is about to snap up) the rights to the new MacBeth with Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, aka the greatest movie ever to be, from the director of the brutal and awesome Snowtown.

--- Lady Show - Over at The Film Experience Matthew runs through how David O. Russell's American Hustle and its reception matters to all of the key players involved - can I just say that I get giddier by the day thinking about Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence in it? Cuz I do.

"Anybody seen him [François Arnaud] act?"

Yeap, and I think you have, too. He was the boyfriend in Xavier Dolan's I Killed My Mother.

He was one of the main reasons to watch The Borgias, an excellent series which should have gotten more praise and a bigger audience than it did.

Oh wow, was he really? Yeah I remember him. Well, I remember this, specifically.

Thank you for that link!

So it seems that in order to be considered for the male lead in 50SoG, your early film work has to include an explicit gay sex scene.

Great. Now I'll have a little "François Arnaud meets Charlie Hunnam" fantasy playing in my head all day.
