I Am Link

.
--- Outback Again - I read a smidge of the reviews of Wolf Creek 2 from Venice but had to stop myself, lest I spoil too much - anyway it seemed like it was getting good attention, especially for it being a slasher film playing a big time serious film festival. Greg McLean's original film is one of the most beautiful starkest pieces of horror made in decades, so I certainly think it's worthy, personally, but you know how most critics roll. Anyway The Playlist has several new pictures from the film, and they show hunter and prey and backpacks and all that jazz. There are also a couple new shots from Ti West's The Sacrament at that link, too. And you can see a clip from behind the scenes here, including some swoonworthy director Greg McLean.

--- Bad Robot Uprising - JJ Abrams is re-teaming with Christopher Nolan's brother Jonathan to remake Westworld for HBO. I guess it would be for a series, not a one-off movie? Nolan's writing the script and producing the series with his wife Lisa Joy; Joy is also producing Bryan Fuller's High Moon pilot for SyFy (having previously worked on Pushing Daisies). In other words, she's a geek's best friend.

--- Sweet Matty - Fall Movie Season is barreling upon us and I'm not sure I'm prepared that yet, there's too much to keep up with, and now we're getting stuff from 2014 too - like here's the first shot of Matthias Schoenaerts and Michelle Williams in Suite Franchaise, which I told you about previously. Matthias in uniform, y'all. That's out sometime next year. (My guess would be Fall, since it's coming from the Weinsteins.)
.
--- The Next JoBeth - You should just skip right ahead to the part in this interview with Rosemarie Dewitt where she talks about taking on the role of Mom in the remake of Poltergeist, because she's totally charming and off-the-cuff about it, and it made me actually want to not be a spazz about the idea of remaking Poltergeist. She's so chill. Choice bit:
"I think Sam Rockwell is doing it too, so that's all I need — a good script and Sam Rockwell."
.
--- Still Making Max - In case you were wondering what was up with the new Max Max movie with Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, The Playlist reports that director George Miller has three more weeks of shooting planned for this Fall down in Aussie land. So it will still be awhile.

--- Anti Super - Bryan Cranston says he has no plans to play Lex Luthor, even though the rumor was all over the place - he says it's just because he's known as a bald dude, and that any actor can play bald, if they just shave their head, you fools. Ha!

--- Candlestick Killer - If you need something to read over lunch, or dinner, or any ol' time, then I highly recommend this terrifically well-researched piece on the making of the movie Clue. It's super entertaining. (Much like the movie.)

--- And Speaking of villainous rumor-mongering, the internet's abuzz that JJ Abrams will be reteaming with his Star Trek Into Darkness bad guy for the new Star Wars movies. Because he should definitely try to over-lap the two series as much as possible. Just turn everything into one giant exploding expensive thing, right?

--- Two Fists Up - I'm seeing this myself this upcoming weekend, but here's Glenn's take on James Franco's Cruising riff Interior Leather Bar with I Want Your Love filmmaker Travis Mathews, which no matter how much I read about I have no idea what to expect. I mean I really loved his reassemblage of My Own Private Idaho footage, so who knows?

--- And finally, good riddance to Summer - it's time for Shocktober! Stacie Ponder's gearing up for the annual Fall festivities at Final Girl and is asking us all what ten movies scared us the most. Head over and let her know! So ready for Fall.

I liked the first picture they posted of Matthias and Michelle (that they took down) in Suite Francaise better. Matthias looks even better in that one.
