I Am Link

.
--- Slave Winter - You probably already know that Steve McQueen's third film, following Hunger and Shame, is the slavery drama Twelve Years a Slave with Chiwetol Ejiofor, Brad Pitt, and of course Michael Fassbender; new news: it just got a release date way way at the end of December, obviously setting it up for one of those irritating last minute Oscar runs that gets on all of our nerves.

--- Space Dude - Christopher Nolan's big sci-fi thing he's making next called Interstellar has Matthew McConaughey in talks for its lead now. Hopefully this thing is coherent, unlike Nolan;'s last effort at so-called filmmaking. But speaking of McConaughey, I saw the trailer for Mud the first time this weekend, the new movie from Take Shelter genius Jeff Nichols, and it looks pretty darn good, even with a cast I'm not ever gonna be as excited about as say I was with Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain.

--- Hang On Kirk - Naturally I only click on every new set of Star Trek pictures in hopes that Kirk and Spock are sharing one of those love tubs made so famous by fan-mongering - alas, no dice just yet. But Chris Pine's bum looks pretty nice in this new shot, and that's something.

--- Dark Hero - Here's some jibber-jabber from Guillermo Del Toro on what his so-called Justice League Dark film would be; he's leaning towards the Crisis On Infinite Earths storyline, which is actually a comic storyline I've read! And I can't imagine a more difficult one to tackle, either. He apparently really wants to make it though, right after he makes his next film, the Gothic ghost thing Crimson Peak that's reuniting him with Perfect Human Being Charlie Hunnam after working together on robots versus monsters movie Pacific Rim. Seems to me a ridiculously difficult thing for DC to get their shit together on anything though, so who knows.

--- Mc Daddy - It was Ewan McGregor's birthday over the weekend and The Film Experience celebrated by posting a nice lil' gratuitous gallery of the adorable oft-doffed star. Mmm Ewan. Last week in my awards I forgot to have him in The Impossible in my gratuitous runners-up gallery! Shame on me.

--- Foreign Tongues - The Times takes a look at actors like Viggo Mortensen and Kristin Scott Thomas who have been making movies in foreign countries in languages other than English. I very much want to see Everybody has a Plan, Viggo's Argentinian flick. (thx Mac)

--- Army Two - Rumor is - and I suppose this rumor contains a kind of big although not terribly surprising spoiler for the Evil Dead remake, with regards to who survives the film - that Raimi & Co. want to merge the new film with the old films in the next Evil Dead venture. I've become so skeptical of ever getting Ash again at this point.

--- Spring Breakers Is A Lie - No I still haven't made it to see Spring Breakers yes and yes I am very annoyed about that fact. But here's our pal Glenn's take over at Stale Popcorn; I have heard this tale of an outrageous cinema- going experience in person and it is a doozy.

--- Boo Houses - The director of Dark Skies (did that movie even come out?) is making "the ultimate suburban haunted house movie" called Scary House ( I really hate that title) with Patrick Wilson and Patton Oswalt, amongst others. Young Adult reunion! And speaking of "Patrick Wilson in haunted house movies," they showed a bunch of footage from James Wan's The Conjuring at WonderCon this past weekend and apparently it made the crowd go nuts. Fingers crossed on that one.

Yay! Glenn's in the us! (I don't know you or Glenn or Joe, but golly, you're all my friends in my mind. Albeit it way out of my league, friends-wise.)

There was a 1 second flash of cock in Hunger and then a 3 seconds of "cock comin' at ya" in Shame. Is it too much to ask that in 12 Years A Slave we get a 5 minute scene of Brad Pitt and Chiwetol Ejiofor working over Fassy's erect shaft (ala Brown Bunny)?

That's not an unreasonable demand, is it?
