I Have Cheered The Uncheerable

.
I really really really really really want ParaNorman to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, you guys. I don't know why it's the award that I'm most fixated on, nor do I really understand what its chances are - all I know is I have seen four of the five nominees in this category (I haven't seen Wreck It Ralph yet) and ParaNorman is much better than the others. Brave is probably my number two [review] but Pixar does not need another statue, especially when Laika is working total magic right now. Anyway Nat asked us to make some pleas to the Academy as the ballots go out today and you can read mine and several other TFE contributors at TFE today.

This.

Didn't really know about it as it came out, fucking loved it when I saw it and felt guilty that I didn't really know about it as it came out.

Brave was not good. It was a bad try at making Finding Nemo for Mother daughter relationship. If it wasn't Disney nobody would see or like. 4/10
Frankenweenie is only here because it is Barton. 6/10
I don't know what the Pirates are doing here. It was amazing and I laughed a lot but not oscar material. 7/10 Wreck It Ralph was a surprise for me. I expected the worst and it was charming. Still I believe it was for youngsters above 10 (unlike every classic disney movie) and even though it was good it still missed the soul Paranorman had. Paranorman was a perfect 10 (one of the few movies I graded 10/10 on imdb this year. I laughed, I cried and unlike every other animation on that list I felt for the characters and wished for them to succeed! If it doesn't win The Academy is dead to me (although they've been giving the wrong awards for the past 13 years or so...

I think I was born to love this movie. Ten minutes in and Norman put on his zombie slippers and I looked down to my own pair on my feet and flipped everything. Such a happy-making movie. Anyone ever figure out if they're gonna release the actual Aggie freak-out track? Because it's The Fountain-esque but it's not actually it and well... I want it.

I think Paranorman is lovely, but it's right smack in the middle of the pack at #3. I'm not Pixar's biggest fan but I think Brave is better than many of its endeavours and undeniably warm and fresh. But, my pick is Frankenweenie. Save for a final two minutes that's not quite as good as I'd like it's practically perfect.
