A Tom & Matt Story

.
This news broke on Friday but even with a couple of days delay it's far too good for me to pass up - Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts, so wonderfully talented in so many varied interior and exterior ways, is going to work with his Bullhead director again. His Bullhead director (he's named Michael Roskam) is making a movie called Animal Rescue, that's already got Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace starring in it. So Matthias and Tom Hardy are going to be in a movie together, is where I am going with this. This is the exact opposite of a "Low T" commercial. This is you hooking a spigot up to the movie screen and testosterone literally pouring at your feet. Literally.

It's weird because when Bullhead came out it kinda felt to me that Matthias had seen what getting insanely buff and making a really edgy movie about masculinity out of control had done for Tom Hardy with Bronson, and it sort of felt like he was walking in Tom's footsteps. I doubt he'd want it put that way, but there was an echo, watching it from the outside. And it worked out similarly for him - suddenly everybody sat up and took notice. So I'd already had these two linked in my mind, anyway. It'll be interesting to see them on-screen against each other. They are both very talented men, beyond the musculature.

This would be an awesome duo.

As for another awesome duo, I thought you might be interested in this:

Are there any other recent films you've worked on that you want to tell us about?

Kafka: I did a day on the new Terrence Malick. If I survive the cut, I play a woman at a party who has cancer and has a brief but intimate encounter with Michael Fassbender and Ryan Gosling.

This movie is definitely going to have threeways.
