I Am Link

.
--- Eat Well - I know I've seen a couple of these pictures from Bryan Fuller's Hannibal already (the shot of Hugh Dancy's glasses splattered with blood is burned into my brain) but I think a couple of them are new, so check out this gallery at STYD. This show cannot get here quick enough!
.
--- Inherent Ham - I was all excited the other day when I saw that Paul Thomas Anderson was gearing up to shoot his movie of Thomas Pynchon's book Inherent Vice this year, and then The Playlist had to go and remind me that the overrated ham Robert Downey Jr. was going to star in it. Ugh. I mean, PSH wrung a terrific performance out of Adam Sandler so anything's possible, but this definitely is a mood-dampener. As if to temper that though, they say that Charlize Theron is maybe also joining the movie, and it does definitely help. She's a bit of a balm against itchy burning Downey-itis.

--- Ruff Stuff - There's a long interview over at EW with the director James Mangold about his next movie The Wolverine, aka the second spin-off movie about Hugh Jackman's X-Men character and his ridiculously shredded abs. I only skimmed it but there's a ton about the tone and setting and so forth of the film. Less about Hugh's abs, to my chagrin.

--- Felt For Fey - Tina Fey has joined the cast of The Muppets 2, which is great, but even greater is the fact that her character, which is the female lead (human variety) is described as "a Russian gulag prison guard." I want to go to there.

--- Slippered Away - As I expected, things did not go smoothly for director Mark Romanek when he decided to work with Disney on a Cinderella update - he's left the project citing irreconcilable differences (aka the Mouse is a putz, yo). I think Mark needs to stick to smaller budget head-trips where he can be in charge. He doesn't seem to play well with others. Anyway if you head over to TFE I am asking for your auteur fantasies of who could make a great version of the glass-slippered tale.

--- So Right - I still haven't seen that sentient tire movie Rubber, somehow; it got a ton of bad reviews that pushed it down my list and from there, oblivion. Anyway the director has another movie coming out called Wrong and that's the poster there and that shit is indeed wrong, in a terrific way. He's got gumption, this dude, I'll give him that.

--- Blue Woody - Woody Allen's next movie is called Blue Jasmine and is set at least partially in NYC and it stars Cate Blanchett, amongst many others, and you can read all about it over at TFE. I am excited, but sad all the same that he's still not doing anything with Diane Keaton. Why do they torment us?
