I Am Link

.
--- Jedi Mine - Besides an entirely new trilogy of Star Wars movies set after the events of the original trio's capper Return of the Jedi, apparently we're also getting a stand-alone movie set in the same galaxy far far away but not part of the new trilogy, and it will be made by Zach Snyder. He says he's basing it on Seven Samurai, a la The Magnificent Seven. Oh not to mention Takashi Miike's wonderful 13 Assassins the other year. And basically any movie where random dudes team up to take down bad dudes. (UPDATE - This story's not true, says The Playlist. Oh well. Hey look, Zach has great arms!)

--- Kiddie Assassin - I'd totally forgotten there was talk of the CW turning Battle Royale into a tv show - well thankfully that has been canned, says Slash. Thank goodness!

--- Ginger Dominance - We heard a few weeks back that Louis CK was in the new Woody Allen movie, and here comes word that he's just joined the cast of David O. Russell's next film too - somebody wants to be a movie star! Well with those good looks... aww, I kid. I love Louis. Thing is, him doing work that's not his own, though, that's less exciting to me. So much of his brilliance is from his own observations, ya know?

--- Neon Nightmare - I really love the weird-ass poster for Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers, which you can see over at Stale Popcorn, along with Glenn's ever delightful commentary. I do hope this movie's as weird-ass  as I want it to be.

---  Girl Friday - I usually find Michelle Monaghan perfectly likeable (she was great in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Source Code, for instance) but kind of forgettable. Like, I don't really think about her when she's not right in front of me. But I never did see that Trucker movie where she stood on her own, not playing The Girl, and was apparently terrific. Anyway she just got the role of The Girl in Cary Fukunaga's hotly anticipated by yours truly True Detective series for HBO, which stars with Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey.

--- Gay For Togas - The guy who created The Tudors is going to make a series about Alexander the Great next. Let's hope that this time around we finally get him as gay as he oughta be; I'm still annoyed I never got to see Colin Farrell and Jared Leto go at it, dammit.

--- String Symphonic - Genius composer Clint Mansell is doing the music for Park Chan-wook's new movie Stoker and you can hear the first track over here. I am seeing Mansell perform some of his music live later this Spring and oh my god I am so super fucking excited about that.

--- Eyes On The Prizes - If you want to know my thoughts on the Golden Globes last night and missed it in real time just check out my Twitter feed from last evening, that's all I got to say about that. It's impossible to take that show seriously, but I love the shit out of it anyway. For a more thoughtful analysis than my drunken ramblings, check out what Joe wrote over at Film.com.
