I Am Link

.
--- Boy Dandy - Matt Damon says that he will be naked a whole bunch in Steven Soderbergh's movie about Liberace, delightfully called Behind the Candelabra, where's he's playing Liberace's boyfriend opposite Michael Douglas. He says his nudity will be "tasefully done," which makes him sound like such a priss. Like he's a fallen Miss America contestant or something. Tastefully! He also says he and Douglas straddle each other and make out a bunch, as if anybody on Earth really wants to see that.

--- Slave Mastered - I'm dying to see Django Unchained now (it's really the only 2012 movie left I'm dying for, I think?) and I'm especially curious to see Samuel L. Jackson's apparently terrific performance, which Michael just raved about at The Film Experience - I like Sam so much as an actor but he has not been trying lately.

--- Yay Girls - Also at TFE, Beau wrote up a lovely little ode to the first season of Girls, Lena Dunham's quite brilliant show on HBO, of which we are a very big fan. January 13th sees the return of that and the return of Enlightened, and I wouldn't be more excited if Jake Gyllenhaal were going down on me. Okay maybe that's an exaggeration.

--- Wrapped Tight - I think I may have missed the news that Len "I am hot but a terrible director" Wiseman will be rebooting the Mummy franchise. He says he's setting it in modern times, and it will be epic. Meaning he will get paid a lot of money to make something loud and incomprehensible and probably starring his wife, right?

--- Fondle Your Sweaters - I haven't watched this but here's a video of Michael Showalter talking about making a Wet Hot American Summer sequel finally, and apparently he seems to behave as if it will actually happen for real. We will see; they been talking about this for a very long time.

--- Fly Ness - David Cronenberg's film Cosmopolis, which got substantially better with a second viewing says me, is out on DVD on January 1st. The Playlist chatted with him about that and got some info on a couple films of his that haven't panned out - namely a sequel to Eastern Promises and a re-do of The Fly. Of the latter he says, interestingly: "It wasn't really a remake, it was more of a sequel or a sidebar. It was a meditation on fly-ness." Indeed.
.
--- Cyber Bully - Hot off a hot performance, easily the best I've ever seen from him, in On the Road, Garrett Hedlund is signed up to definitely make another Tron movie. Way to step up your game, buddy! (Yeah I'm sure he signed that contract ages ago.)
.
--- Fight Club - The reunion between Drive star Ryan Gosling and Drive director Nicholas Winiding Refn is called Only God Forgives, which you know if you've seen me yap about it already - the new news is it will open in Denmark in May, and will probably play at Cannes.

--- About Whatever - It doesn't much matter what it's about - there's a movie that will star Penn Badgley, Josh Hartnett, Rosario Dawson, and Teresa Palmer, so I am there.

--- Final Girl Outfits - Here's a terrific piece on the costuming in Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon's horror masterpiece The Cabin in the Woods - terrific because you don't usually see movies of this sort get their costuming paid attention to, while it obviously deserves to be. Genre bias, genre bias!

--- And finally, if you want to have a really gay Friday (and why the hell wouldn't you?) you should watch this here teaser trailer for Pedo Almodovar's next movie, a colorful comedy a la his earlier work set on an airplane called I'm So Excited. (via)
