I'm well past giving a shit about the Paranormal Activity movies so I doubt I'll be seeing Part 4, out today, at least until it's on video. I liked the first one quite a bit at the time but have found them to be a serious case of diminishing returns ever since. (And I've never bothered to rewatch the first one, so I have my doubts as to whether it would hold up, as well.) Still, like I say in this week's Celebrity Beehive column on this weekend's new releases, I don't have anything against this franchise's success. It's no Saw in that regard. They aren't condescending brainless moralizing hooey. The Paranormals are just cheap old-fashioned boo-boxes spiced up with pedestrian techno-babble, and they're comforting in that sense. So carry on, movie-going public!
