I Am Link

.
--- Kent Of Krypton - David S. Goyer, the writer of Puppet Master Vs. Demonic Toys (oh and also the Dark Knight trilogy) tells us what to expect tone-wise from Zach Snyder's Man of Steel, aka the new Superman starring Henry Cavill's large furry bosom. It is as we expected (slash feared) from that somber trailer - he took the somber stick from Batman's ass and crammed it right up the back-flap of Supes' rubber pajamas.

--- Agents Aboard - A list of characters that will populate Joss Whedon's TV spin-off from The Avengers called S.H.I.E.L.D. after those hero-aiding government agents represented in the movies by Sam Jackson and his eye-patch has made its way online, you can read about them here. Surprisiging nobody who's ever watched anything Joss has touched, three of the five are female. Now let's get some cool casting!

--- Texan Draw - Ha I love it when Nat let's his cat Monty in on the movie fun - check out his purr-fect take towards a screener of Richard Linklater's Bernie. And since I'm apparently not going to properly review Bernie, let me just say here that I found the movie surprisingly enjoyable, especially Jack Black who as a general rule I cannot abide. Maclaine was great too (Total shades of Ouiser, amirite?)

--- Buffy To Katniss - Buffy nerd Jonathan sure has come a long ass way - first he won himself and Julianne Moore Emmys with Game Change, and now he's been hired to write the script for the two-part Hunger Games finale Mockingjay. Good work, nerd!

--- Monkey Shines - Matt Reeves, the man who wowed me with Cloverfield and then didn't totally embarrass himself with the remake of Let the Right One In, is maybe going to sign on to make the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, called Dawn of the et cetera. He is a good choice.

--- Space The Place - Shocktober got off to a terrific start at Final Girl yesterday with Stacie taking on Danny Boyle's Sunshine, a movie I have been really meaning to rewatch for awhile now. She has issues with the final act, I know a lot of people did, but I remember digging it myself. It's pretty vague though, my recollection. Anyway on tap for today in Shocktober festivities - the marvelous Swedish vampire flick Let the Right One In! (Speaking of movies that owe Near Dark a debt of gratitude.)

--- Haunting Hawke - Going along with all I have been hearing, our fave folks over at Paracinema gave the Ethan Hawke-starring chiller Sinister a mighty positive review, meaning I will have to see a movie starring Ethan Hawke, insert the world's biggest sigh here.

--- Hex It Up - STYD has a tidbit of information on what Spanish horror-directing crazy man Alex de la Iglesia, he who made the insane Day of the Beast and the insane The Last Circus amongst others, is up to next, and it sounds, yup, insane. He's describing it as a witch-filled version of It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World. Indeed.

--- Somewhere That's Greene - Here's a chat with Pushing Daisies and Little Shop of Horrors actress slash awesomeness Ellen Greene about Little Shop's director's cut getting released on DVD next Tuesday, plus... Daisies on Broadway? (thanks Mac)

--- And finally I'm throwing this last here because I think maybe if I scarcely mention it I can make it not be true - Deadline's reporting that Bryan Fuller's Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane is on the verge, very close, to not getting picked up by NBC. Nooooo!!! Say it ain't soooooo!!! Maybe the studio's just pranking Nikki Finke, nobody likes her. This is terrible news. I got to see some unfinished footage when I was up in Toronto visiting the set of Bryan's other NBC show Hannibal and it looked marvelous already, like the Pushing Daisies Halloween Special of my dreams. Horrible news if true.
