I Am Link

.
--- Circling the Dying - The artist formerly known as James Franco is plowing ahead with directing his adaptation of William Faulkner's As I Lay Dying, which he'll shoot in October, and he's gathering a cast - his Your Highness co-star Danny McBride, some female person named Ahna O'Reilly, and hot-but-boring piece Logan Marshall Green. Now everybody close your eyes and take a moment to imagine Logan hitting up the casting couch for James... that's a not half bad way to start a day, innit?

--- Ass Master - Jim Carrey, who seems to have disappeared (or maybe I've just taken to blocking out all the shit he's been making - hi there, Mr. Popper's Penguins!), might be taking a role in the sequel to Kick-Ass. Since I'll be seeing the sequel to Kick-Ass even though I did not like the first movie (such is my affection for Aaron Johnson in that jumpsuit), I welcome Jim Carrey to it, he might do a little dance and distract me from whatsherface.

--- Jim F. Kennedy - I'm generally not a fan of Forest Whitaker, he kind of creeps me out, so when I link over to the first pictures from Lee Daniels' next movie The Butler, which stars Whitaker, know that I'm really just directing you to the shot of James Marsden as JFK in just a wifebeater and pajama bottoms. I mean that should be clear, I am just making it moreso, just in case.

--- Absentee Ballots - Michael C. lists twelve movies that didn't get a single vote on the critics' lists for the much-discussed Sight & Sound poll, and wow to some of them, wow.

--- Dragon Bait - We only got to see an eensy glimpse of Gollum in the first Lord of the Rings movie and it appears that Peter Jackson's following that precedent for The Hobbit - Benedict Cumberbatch, who's voicing the treasure-smuggling dragon Smaug, says we'll only see the beast's eye in the first Hobbit movie out this Winter.

--- A Brain Is a Wish Your Heart Makes - A gallery of Disney princesses turned into zombies? Sure, I'll bite. (Groan.) (Double groan!)

--- RIP Tony - My day yesterday got busy so I never got around to saying anything about the director Tony Scott's death, which is fine really since all I would've had to say was something about The Hunger, the only movie of his that I actually really love. I wasn't a fan of his hyper-kinetic super-glossy style so much. But hey without him we wouldn't have this. Anyway I dug Nat's spin on his career through his movie posters, so check that out.

When I was in college I sometims babysat for my acting teacher's two young sons. One of those young boychildren grew up to be Logan Marshall Green. All of which is to say, I am old.

Awesome, SL! Not the being old part, the other part. ;) That makes you what, just a couple of degrees away from holding Marisa Tomei's Oscar.
