Quote of the Day

.
Joss Whedon took to his site Whedonesque today to finally address the oliphaunt in the room (see that's like an elephant only much bigger and much much geekier) - the fact that he just became the biggest swinging dick in the swinging-dick-palace that is Hollywood by opening The Avengers bigger than any other movie, ever. It's a lot of Joss-style rambling - meaning: awesome - but my favorite bit comes at the end when he tells us what's next for him:

"I'm discarding my old fans so I can concentrate on fame, Euro-trash guy-jewelry and my precious "Air Bud" reboot."

Yeehaw, the future awaits!

Get the man back on board for Wonder Woman! Perhaps Warner Brothers will now let him do it HIS way. If it's anything like the George Perez comics (Which I imagine it could be), I will die.

I really don't pay much attention to how these things work but doesn't it seem like it'd be... complicated... for him to do a Wonder Woman movie now that he's entrenched himself in the Marvel camp? Like, he def. couldn't do an Avengers sequel if he switched back, or something? I don't know if that's true at all, I don't know the DC vs. Marvel extends to this, and I would KILL for a WW movie from him so let me be wrong, it just seems more complicated now. Unfortunately. Let him make ALL the superhero movies! ;)

That was one of my favorite quotes of that QA. I'm glad I tweeted you about it, because now its gloriousness can live on your blog!

Damn it, you're right JA. That hadn't even crossed my mind. When will Princess Diana ever be free? :(

Agreed Sam79. I didn't know who Colie Smulders was but I had heard her name being bandied about during mentions of Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman a few years back.

When I saw her in Avengers and saw how much she looks like Wonder Woman (looks in my head), my jaw was on the floor.

She'd be the perfect Diana and Joss would be the perfect director for such a film but the only problem is, a Wonder Woman film would never work just like 99% of DC characters would never work on film.

Marvel characters are human and flawed and vulnerable and relatable, DC characters are silly 1940s caricatures who haven't aged very well.
