Harvey Does It Again

.
My Week With Marilyn, the "Michelle Williams plays Marilyn Monroe" movie which I liked okay, was all set to come out on November 4th, but now Deadline shares that, "emboldened by the critical reaction" the ever-bright Weinsteins have decided to move the film to Thanksgiving weekend. So now, instead of opening the film opposite A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas 3D and Tower Heist, which correct me if I'm wrong would not be gunning for the same audience, they're releasing the film the same day as, deep breath, Hugo and A Dangerous Method and The Muppets and The Artist and Piranha 3DD. (That last one's obviously the biggest threat here.)

In all seriousness though, why would you do this? Is there really that much in bragging rights to open on a holiday instead of a few weeks earlier and give the small movie some time to breathe? Thanksgiving is FULL, Harvey. It is FULL. God. I knew I should have slapped him when I saw him last week.
