People Be Killing Gwyneth Paltrow

.

Left and right, yo! While I'm personally pro-Gwyneth and have been forever now, I can certainly understand why she drives people bonkers. It's what I enjoy about her, and all she seems to have embraced - somebody needed to fill the insufferable WASPy organic-only two-thousand thread count lady position, and she's got it down to a science. It's kept her in the game, and I respect her for going full-hog.

Especially since she also seems to understand the catharsis it brings us as a society to rip her head off and watch her run around in a circle and die violently. As I say in this week's piece at Celebrity Beehive, the entire advertising campaign of Contagion seems to be built around that cold hard fact. While I might've been disgusted by the people who applauded Rick Perry's real-world death penalty record at the Republican Debate the other night, I have no qualms giving a sturdy OOH-RAH to our harmless collective blood-lust where the Princess Paltrow is concerned. It's what she's there for, and she knows it, and we know it, and Steven Soderbergh knows it, and her children's nanny who's surely rented out an entire theater for a Contagion viewing party this weekend knows it most of all.

I am so with you on this. I have loved her since Flesh & Bone. For all her faults, no other performer has delivered such an string of entertainment "products" that suit my tastes like she has (though Keira is closing in fast.) Gwyneth's output during the Miramax years was really remarkable.
