Wham bam we're getting word on casting quick this week for The Hunger Games. Yesterday we got our Thresh and our Rue, and now comes word that Mrs. Jack Donaghy is in talks to play Effie Trinket. Effie is the perky liason between the tributes (Katniss, et cetera - the kids who play the Games - and the Capitol, aka the Powers That Be that are forcing them to play. She escorts them around, getting them where they gotta be, basically. She's a great character, much more than meets the eye.
I love Elizabeth Banks, I think she's ace, and I think she'll be great. It's gonna take me a little bit of effort to stop imagining Kristin Chenoweth in the part, but I can get there with Liz, I think. What do we think?

I just started reading the first book this week. I already love this character and thought this exact same thing while reading. If done right, I think Banks can pull it off, but she really does need that Morning Talk Show Host thing going on.
