Colin Firth as a single man or a speaking king?

Besides just running through this week's two new and completely boring releases in this week's piece at Celebrity Beehive I briefly cast my gaze over at this weekend's Oscars. At least long enough to mention the by-some-assumed conventional wisdom that Colin Firth is winning his statue this year because he didn't win it last year. I mean sure he's terrific enough in TKS, but ASM was the game-changer that made this possible. In my humbly blogged opinion. What sayeth you?

I really have nothing to say about the Oscars this year. I am excited for hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway - their commercials have been a hoot. But I don't much feel passionate about anything. Natalie Portman deserves to win for Black Swan, and I like her, but I've found her terribly boring on stage so far. Same goes for Christian Bale. He's Patrick Bateman, man! I oughta care. But no, everybody's boring me. Boring boring boring! Dogtooth won't win Foreign Film and that's the most exciting nomination as far as I'm concerned. Blurgh.


Of course I've had a crazy week and I'm exceptionally blown-out this afternoon so perhaps I'll gather up some caring by Sunday after resting a bit. Why don't y'all tell me something Oscar-related I should be excited about in the comments. Work me into a lather!
