... and I doubt I'm alone in the world in that being my reaction to this news:
"Oscar winning actress Juliette Binoche is to headline with fellow Parisian director-actor Mathieu Kassovitz in Sylvie Testud’s directorial debut “La Vie d’une autre.”
[It] is “a Proustian tale of a young woman who falls in love then wakes up a decade later as the mother of a young boy and smack bang in the middle of a divorce.” The mother, played by Binoche, tries to salvage her marriage and hopefully figure out what the hell happened to the last ten years.
... Mathieu Kassovitz has been absent from the film world the last couple of years but fans of the director of “La Haine” and “The Crimson Rivers” and co-star in “Amelie” and “Munich” will see him this year in Steven Soderbergh’s “Haywire” about a revenge pic about a black ops super soldier and staring alongside Ewan McGregor, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas and plenty more.
Binoche is still riding high following the Cannes success of Abbas Kiarostami‘s “Certified Copy” (where she picked up a Best Actress award) and she’ll next be seen in “The Son Of No One” with Al Pacino which unspools at Sundance next week.
You may remember Testud as Marion Cotillard’s best friend in the Oscar winning Edith Piaf biopic “La Vie en Rose.” Testud has one of those quirky faces you don’t easily forget and has won numerous best actress awards for complicated and difficult characters like the wheelchair bound Christine in Jessica Hausner’s “Lourdes,” a role she won best actress for at the European Film Awards in 2009. Testud penned the script based on the novel by Frederique Deghelt and shooting begins in April in Paris, Belguim and Luxemberg."
Speaking of Certified Copy, why the heck do I have to wait until March for that movie? I need a Binoche fix godammit. Now!
