The director of
The Legend of Boggy Creek,
Charles B. Pierce,
died on Friday at the age of 71. And now I feel terribly guilty for
hating on the movie back in December. It's one of those movies that thinking back on it now it seems like it might be funny or entertaining to watch it again, because the acting really was just atrocious in a way that could be hysterical. But no, I told myself at the time, this isn't funny, this is just painful. Oh well. The dude pretty much owned the genre of first-person horror, having come 27 years before
Blair Witch, and that ain't nothing to sneeze at. Maybe I'll finally try to watch
The Town That Dreaded Sundown now in his honor.
