Er, what? Whatever am I talking about? Have I finally gone and lost it? (Yeah, as if I ever had "it" to begin with.) No no no it will all make sense (in a nonsense-y way) in a moment. It stems from this news, via Slash:
"Brief news on Contagion, the recently announced Steven Soderberg viral thriller penned by Scott Z. Burns. The film already has a hell of a cast: repeating Soderbergh star Matt Damon plus Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard and Jude Law are all in the lineup. Now Gwyneth Paltrow has joined as well."
See, now that Gwyneth has joined the already announced cast it's become even more of a Talented Mr. Ripley reunion.
Matt Damon, Jude Law and Gwyneth were all memorably in that film. And now they're in this film. Plus Kate Winslet. Ripley had a different Kate though! One who spells her name with a C, namely Cate Blanchett.
And now the post's title makes sense! Or it did ages ago and I didn't need to explain it at all. Or it still doesn't. Whatever.
What I'm getting at is, where the hell's Phillip Seymour Hoffman anyway? I don't think I can make this sort of nonsense argument switching him out for Marion Cotillard. (If somebody wants to try though, there's the comments! )Also, now that Ripley's gone and gotten itself mentioned, I have to go stare at Jude's bum for a bit. It settles my nerves, it does.
