The Greatest Movie...

... which gave us this magnificent scene:

.

.

Curtains (1983)

One of the all-time greatest, weirdest deaths scenes in a slasher film ever. If Johnny Weir had wanted to actually win a medal he would've reenacted this scene for his performance at the Olympics this year. No contest! Instant gold!

If you've happened to glance at the movies I've watched this week down there in the right-hand column you've maybe noticed that I've been in a horror rut the past couple of days. And you've also maybe noticed that I tend to give these old movies shitty grades for the most part. This film, Curtains, only gets a C; likewise the 1981 slasher Happy Birthday to Me which I watched the day before yesterday. Well I wanna make it clear that these grades are misleading! As proper movies, sure, these things are shoddily made (you could see the boom mike for half a scene in Curtains) and shoddily acted, but they bring me plenty of pleasure all the same. Plenty! Pleasures like that scene above, or pleasures like getting to see Samantha "The Brood" Eggar go bonkers again.

You can't beat that shit, no you cannot.
Read more on this scene at Final Girl.
And here's the movie's original trailer, just cuz:
