5 Off My Head - A Sixty Siggy Spectacular

.
Today is my beloved Sigourney Weaver's 60th birthday, so I want every single one of you to turn to the person sitting beside you and scream at them to get away from you, you bitch. DO IT. Okay, now that that is done, let's make a list! I can't believe I've never done one of these for Siggy before, but here are my five favorite performances of hers. I probably never did one of these for her before because this is like extracting my fucking teeth and then taking those teeth and blinding myself with them. It hurts. Believe you me there are ten performances that I wish were here, but I just went with the first ones I thought of here. otherwise I would've melted. Let's get the obvious one outta the way first - the one that made my 10 fave characters ever list - and move on from there...

Ellen Ripley, the Alien quadrilogy
"Come on, cat."
Janey Carver, The Ice Storm
"Ben, you're boring me. I have a husband.
I don't have a need for another one."
Gwen DeMarco, Galaxy Quest
"Let's get out of here before one of those things kills Guy."
Katharine Parker, Working Girl
"Never burn bridges. Today's junior prick,
tomorrow's senior partner."
Dana Barrett, Ghostbusters
"You know, you don't act like a scientist.
You're more like a game show host."

I'm shocked that almost all of these (save Ripley and The Ice Storm, naturally) turned out to be comic roles, I love her dramatic work of course - Death and the Maiden! Gorillas in the Mist! The Year of Living Dangerously! - but these were the ones that leapt to mind first. I don't wanna hear any shit about me choosing Ghostbusters - sure she didn't have a whole lot to do in the film but it was my first Siggy movie and Dana Barrett holds a very special place in my heart. I think she represents a lot of what I thought living in New York would be like when I was a kid - inappropriately woolen sweaters at Lincoln Center, deflecting calls from your mother while wearing pastel-colored leggings... you know, just like my life turned out to really be!

Anyway, y'all tell me your faves
in the comments, please. Thank you.

No issues with choosing Ghostbusters - althougth a relatively small role, it was a standout...she turns into a hell demon for god's sake!

I'd probably trade Dana for Helen Hudson from "Copycat." Otherwise my list would look the same.

Death and The Maiden. yesterday, today and forever! i cannot turn away everytime i see that. she is so intense, it scares me each time. polanski politics aside, i think she should've at least been nominated for that film.
