Cuz There's A Million Ways To Go

.
I don't entirely mind the fact that "If You Want To Be Sing Out, Sing Out" by Cat Stevens is currently being used in a commercial for something or other (I do mind enough that I refuse to take note of what the commercial is selling) because I always enjoy a chance to hear the song. It gives me the opportunity to do Ruth Gordon's little dance that she does to the song in Harold and Maude, and that's a pleasure to do even more so when it's an unexpected happening (and ooh baby is it a happening!). So I tune out whatever they're selling and I think about Harold and Maude and I smile. Still I do feel the need to smuggle the song a bit back to its roots, so here is the scene from H&M in which it is sung. And yes, this is pure motherfucking joy looks like. I love Ruthie so much it hurts.

Thanks for the smile, JA. I'm not a great fan of this film (I think it's a tad overrated, to be honest - heresy, I know), but that scene is a particularly good one. And dear, sweet Ruth is so good in so many other films...

That was awesome. If you'll allow me to get all sentimental on your ass for a minute, RG as Maude reminded me of a friend of my grandmother who I was quite fond of. She died this spring at the age of 95, and took advantage of her old age to do basically whatever the fuck she wanted, up to and including goosing me in church one time (true story, I gasped in shock and she just cackled). I miss her and think of her often. I echo Prospero's comment and say "thanks for the smile".
