Renner Road Movie

We here at MNPP (meaning me and my personalities) have been championing Jeremy Renner for a couple of years now (ever since I came slightly late to the Dahmer party back in Summer '07) so all I can say is it's about dang time that he get some heat around him. His work in this Summer's alterna-action hit The Hurt Locker is the usual solid stuff he's been giving out. And so this possibility fills me with glee (via):

"Jeremy Renner, star of The Hurt Locker, says he's screen-testing for a part in George Miller's Mad Max 4, which still appears to be set to start filming next Summer. What part he's testing for, he didn't say (damn). Anyway, here's the quote and link.

"*Q:* What is next for you?

*A:* I'm off to Boston on Aug. 19 for a film Ben Affleck is directing called "The Town." It's based on the novel "Prince of Thieves" about a group of career bank robbers. One of the robbers falls in love with a girl we rob. So it's a great crime thriller and romance. It's a lot of fun.

I'm a robber. Ben will direct and star. It also has Rebecca Hall ("Vicky Cristina Barcelona"), Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"), and Blake Lively ("Gossip Girl") plays my sister.

*I'm also fighting to do the new Mad Max film with George Miller. That might be next summer. I'm screen-testing and meeting George Miller.""

I find this exciting... and not just because of thoughts of Jeremy Renner in leather pants. Not... just, anyway. He seems a perfect fit for that world and I'd love to see Miller make another one of those movies. He's still churning out good (or, in the case of Happy Feet, fucking bizarre) movies these days. Plus... Jeremy in leather pants. For the win!
