I Am Link

.
--- There's Something WAY Wrong With Esther - So I've already had the surprise in Orphan ruined for me but oddly that took my original indifference to the film and made me want to see it something fierce. Still haven't gotten to it. But seriously might. Anyone out there seen it? Sounds like really something seriously bonkers, it does. Anyway, Slash/Film talks about the film a bit and how it's taken a couple of weeks but buzz around the film's insanity has all the makings of turning it into a real cult thing.

--- Working Lohan - Somehow I forgot to mention this yesterday, which is nuts, because it's right up my alley: Lindsay Lohan has supposedly gotten cast in Robert Rodriguez's Machete, the full-length version of that trailer he did for Grindhouse (which you can also watch at that link). I like Rodriguez (and Lindsay... yes, still... a little) but I strangely can't muster much enthusiasm for Machete. I wasn't all that into the trailer, I liked the ones for Thanksgiving and Don't! much more. Still, good for Lindsay.

--- Sans Ripley - Sigourney Weaver states the obvious and tells the world that there won't be any Ellen Ripley in Ridley Scott's prequel to his own 1979 film Alien. Which we all should've realized since Ripley had never encountered the deadly species before when Alien took place, but I still saw articles about questioning whether she'd be in it. Dummies.

--- The List Is Life Death - Arbogast takes his cue from Final Girl and lists his ten favorite zombies in the land. I considered doing it too but damn I am one lazy asshole. So if this turns into a far-ranging meme I guess I'll feel enough peer pressure. Y'all hold your breath in anticipation now!

--- And finally, here's a preview of the preview for Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones! I really should make it clear to y'all that this movie is way way tippy-top high on my anticipated list for the rest of the year. I have not read the book and have decided to keep it that way for the film, but with everyone saying it's Heavenly Creatures territory that he's wading back into here, how could I not be going nuts with anticipation? Expect to see lots about the film here as it approaches. It's out on December 11th.

seriously, do yourself a favor and RUN to see orphan. it's one of the finest horror films. ever. it's almost better than drag me to hell. it's brilliant, well-done, ridiculous, and you'll want to watch it over and over again. i've seen it twice. it's not enough.

While I can't match Michael's whole hearted review, I can recommend that you see it. It is very good, has few holes in the story and numerous scenes where you cover your eyes because the horror and violence are real and believable. It had my thinking - The Bad Seed until the end. Enjoy!

I'm also gonna chime in on you need to see ORPHAN, but it wasn't so much the horror aspects that blew me away, but the relationship between Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard, really rang true for me. And Isabelle Fuhrman's portrayal of Esther is outstanding!

I agree on Machete vs. Don't! and Thanksgiving. Or Werewolf Women Of The SS, for that matter, mostly because I'd like to see the movie that would come out of that premise.
