--- SuperWhat - Didn't watch a lick of the Superbowl yesterday, but I guess there were like commercials and shit worth seeing or something? You can watch all the movie trailers here. I haven't watched any yet, somebody tell me what's worth viewing please.
Over at io9 they went through the Star Trek one pretty much frame by frame. What is it about Chris Pine's face that bugs me so much? He bugs me. I will see the movie because hello bald Eric Bana, plus other highlights, but Chris Pine is poised to annoy me.
--- Go Marty Go - Mr. Scorsese is a busy fella these days, and thank goodness for it. His flick Shutter Island isn't even out until October, but he's already hard at work on his next one. It's one that he's been wanting to do for ages, called Silence, about some monks partying it up in Japan back in the 17th Cen. Daniel Day Lewis and Benicio Del Toro have signed on to play the monks.
--- I See An Avatar - From the lil' bit we do know about James Cameron's flick, the image at this link isn't an avatar actually, but an alien. Navi, they call it. A thing. Whatever. I have a sneaking suspicion that they will be very nifty to look upon once the flick is out, whatever it is. Nifty!
--- Go To Hell, Gaeta - This review of last week's Battlestar episode gets to the meat of what Gaeta's damage is - there are spoilers of course, for the episode as well as the webisodes that aired just before this season - but I have to say, understand him or no, there hasn't been a TV character that I have loathed so steadily and now with such venom as I do him. I literally hiss when he appears on-screen. HATE. RAGE. DEATH.
--- '09 In A Nutshell - Glenn at Stale Popcorn gives us the 50 movies he's most anticipating this year. Part One, and Part Two. Give or take a Transformers sequel this is pretty close to what my own list would look like... more on what my own list would look like will be forthcoming this week though, so stay tuned for that.
--- And finally, I was super duper excited when I saw that Jena Malone - who gave one of the best film performances of 2008 in The Ruins - had been cast in Joss Whedon's Cabin in the Woods. I almost did a little dance! But then I saw that it wasn't true, and my sails went limp. Joss addressed the rumor at his site, saying:
""Turns out that the New York Times’s info about the plot summary and the casting of Jena Malone and Bill Nighy is completely wrong.
"This is misinformation. While we are fans of both those actors, neither is attached to the movie. Just FYI."
"However, they ARE attached to the Serenity sequel."
"Oh. Also, they got the plot wrong."
"In order to protect the story from spoilerization, we’ve been sending out our OWN misinformation, including fake sides for the actors, fake summeries, different names... So there’s gonna be a lot of ’information’ leaked that will lead to excited speculation about things you will not see. Sorry. But here’s some stuff you CAN look forward to, my word on it:
1) A person will have an emotion.
2) two people speaking, or "dialogue", may occur.
3) A bunch of different people will play the part of Bob Dylan.
Hope that clears everything up. More updates soon!""
As much as I love Joss - and I do - every time I read a post on his blog a snippet of dialogue from Fight Club comes to mind:
"Narrator: Tyler, you are by far the most interesting single-serving friend I've ever met... see I have this thing: everything on a plane is single-serving...
Tyler Durden: Oh I get it, it's very clever.
Narrator: Thank you.
Tyler Durden: How's that working out for you?
Narrator: What?
Tyler Durden: Being clever.
Narrator: Great.
Tyler Durden: Keep it up then..."
But then I remember that being clever is working out very VERY well for Joss Whedon and I feel a little less clever myself again. Sigh.

I really shouldn't be surprised by this, should I?
That I can almost see where Gaeta is coming from and the fact that I felt bad for him when he lost his leg AND that he was so upset over Dee's suicide doesn't really make me loathe him any less. I can't wait for Friday.
I haven't watched the webisodes yet, but...he was romancin' a Sharon? I thought the big deal about the webbies was that he was going to come out and have a relationship with a male officer...?
Apparently he's what the hippies call a BIsexual, Stacie. Crazy! ;-)
I am terrified of Friday. TERRIFIED! This week's episode was one of the series' very best though. Ack! So afraid. And I have never liked Gaeta, but I have felt bad for him here and there. But man I'm sitting here hoping for his comeuppance fully well knowing that the show will make me regret that wish and twist the knife so very deep when it comes due.
In related news, we are all masochists.
What are these so-called "bisexuals"...?
No seriously, since he'd never had a relationship on the show before the webisodes, I thought the idea is that he'd be a big gay. The Sharon thing surprised me, is all- for several reasons, not just that she has a va-jay-jay.
I'm terrified for the rest of the season. They're all going to die and I'm going to be crying like a big baby every week!
