The Jerri Blank Show

.
While I must assume that dear Jerri Blank is dead and buried and I ought not to go wishing in vain for such things, this news (via) kicks all kinds of ass anyway:

"One of the most sought-after comedians, Amy Sedaris, has inked a deal with 20th Century Fox TV to create, write and star in a comedy series project.

Sedaris will pen the script with her writing partner Paul Dinello, who also is attached to direct.

The single-camera project will be co-produced by David Letterman's Worldwide Pants, which has a first-look deal with Sedaris, a longtime friend of Letterman's and a frequent guest on his "Late Show" on CBS.

Sedaris and Dinello are "fleshing out" the premise for the show, which is based on an idea Sedaris came up with about six years ago.

"It just seemed the right time to do it now," she said....

While the show will be scripted, there will be room for Second City alumna to showcase her improv skills.

"She is a loose cannon and always adds something when we're shooting," Dinello said.

The project will be taken out to the networks in the next few weeks, with Sedaris and Dinello hoping it will land on cable.""

If Letterman's recent bout of McCain-bashing wasn't enough to reason to love him anew, his continued devotion to giving Amy Sedaris a platform upon which to hoist her hilarity is. Effin' awesome!
