Two Pilots Are Better Than One

Or so goes Joss Whedon's logic. I had heard... iffy... things on the Dollhouse pilot, sneaking all sinister-like across the internet, but I paid them no mind because... poppycock. For reals. Now Joss has gone and shot another pilot, making the old pilot the second episode now, and my poppycock has been deflated. I now suffer from deflated poppycock! It burns.

Ahem. Joss's weird-ass self-interview in which he relates the above information has got me acting weird now. Says the man (via Whedonesque) of his first stab at a Dollhouse pilot:

"I showed some scenes to David Lynch and he’s all, “whuh?” Bad sign. But I kid.

The fact is, I’m very proud of the ep we shot and the series is making me crazy with the excitement. But I tend to come at things sideways, and there were a few clarity issues for some viewers. There were also some slight issues with tone – I was in a dark, noir kind of place (where, as many of you know, I make my home), and didn’t bring the visceral pop the network had expected from the script. The network was cool about it, but not sure how to come out of the gate with the ep."

He does say more, you should read it if you care. If you don't care, I have a re-inflated poppycock for your perusing pleasure.

ETA - Also, co-ed showers, y'all:

Just keep repeating "They re-shot the Buffy pilot too..." over and over and you'll be fine.

Yeah, they re-shot the Buffy pilot... AND ROBBED THE WORLD OF THE WONDER OF RIFF REGAN! All we got is talentless Alyson Hannigan in her place. Boo!
