I Am Link

--- Believe It Or Not, George Isn't At Home - io9 lists all the superhero screw-ups that beat Will Smith's Hancock to the punch, and as soon as The Greatest American Hero comes up in conversation I have that theme song, filtered through Seinfeld-lore, stuck in my head. Great.

So (spoiler alert) I have not gotten around to seeing Hancock, and am curious... those of you that have seen it, would one's obsessive love for all things Charlize and a deep desire to see her kick Will Smith's ass outweigh what is the deafening critical roar of its shittiness? I cannot decide if I can make the sacrifice.

Also, how fucking right was I? Can I get some fucking props for calling Charlize's super-powered nature via that split-second shot in the trailer or what?

--- Cartoon Sculder - EW.com has a preview of The X-Files comic books coming our way via the show's co-producer/co-writer Frank Spotnitz. Looks positively monsterlicious.

--- Cartoon Boobs - I'd forgotten that David Fincher was working on an update of Heavy Metal, that animated 70s epic about rock'n'roll and enormous bosoms. Well now he isn't. Because Paramount changed their mind. I guess they're looking for a new home now.

--- Arty Boobs - Stale Popcorn takes a look at what Showgirls would have been if it'd been filmed in black and white. It's the visual embodiment of Nomi's claim to being a "Dancer!"

--- Werner & Rog - Roger Ebert asks Werner Herzog five questions about his latest flick and his general philosophies on movie-making. Lovely stuff.

--- Charlie Nobody
- Billy Loves Stu highlights one of their very important sponsors, and it's got me giggling semi-uncontrollably every time I see it. Crafty Abe.

--- Goodbye, Giant Worms - The team behind the modern B-movie classic Tremors are going to make an "urban" monster movie now. I can't tell you how much of my teenage years were spent watching Tremors over and over and over on basic cable. Endless fun. I haven't seen it in years; gotta get me a copy.

--- And finally, Culture Snob is holding the Self-Involvement Blog-a-thon right now (through Sunday). Me me me! I'm going to try and do a post since my birthday's next week and right now really is ALL ABOUT ME, YOU KNOW, but for now go check it out.

As for the Charlize thing, hmm, that's a tough decision.

Her biggest scenes happen obviously after the big "revelation", at which point the films sinks into nonsensical crap mode.

But man, she looks so gorgeous in this film (especially once she goes "dark"). Plus, performance-wise she does well in a difficult role.
