What slag stole the best supporting Oscar from Ricci that year?

This ought to make you happy: Renee Zellweger won for her "performance" in Cold Mountain that year. BLURGH. You and I are, I do believe, the only people on Earth who adored this perf. of Ricci's though. So while most people tend to agree now that Zellweger's win was an abomination, I also think they'd award one of the other nominees the prize (Shohreh Aghdashloo was wonderful in House of Sand and Fog; Marcia Gay Harden in Mystic River, blah; Patty Clarkson in Pieces of April, haven't seen it; and Holly Hunter was great in thirteen) before even thinking about Ricci. Unfortunately.

Patricia Clarkson, but for The Station Agent. (Or Emma Thompson in Love, Actually)

But I thought Christina was just fine.

Christina Ricci's performance was HORRIBLY snubbed by critics and the Academy. I also think she deserved an Oscar nod. She's on my ballot for 2003.
