A Person's A Person, No Matter How...

.
... nuts.

Why am I suddenly consumed by a desire to see Dr. Suess's Horton Hears A Who!? I haven't really given the film the slightest bit of thought until today, but suddenly... it looks pleasant, I think. Perhaps it's my "especially friendly towards Steve Carell" mind-set this week after adoring Dan In Real Life (a lovely little movie). Perhaps all this Haneke-inspired thinking on violence has got me feeling like shutting off my brain for a couple of hours and watching something simple and colorful.

And... perhaps I'm just nuts.

This weekend's crowded though - Funny Games and Doomsday! - so Horton will have to wait for this mood to strike me again. Still, it sorta looks like they might've, for once, not raped a Dr. Suess book. That's cause for celebration, no?

What will y'all be seeing this weekend?

I was watching Jim Carrey on Letterman the other night and they showed a clip of Horton melting all the snow in Whoville and it was sooo adorable.

But I'm always wary of animation from studios that aren't Disney/Pixar.

I am watching "My Left Foot" for the first time ever and perhaps the original "Funny Games" if I can bring myself to.
