Garfield - Garfield

This website seems to be making the rounds right about now, so y'all prolly seen it, but if not it's a must-check-out: Garfield Minus Garfield has taken a bunch of Garfield comic strips and erased that famous orange tabby from each frame, leaving in his wake the terribly sad tale of a schizophrenic Jon Arbuckle. Some of them have been turned into pop art at its finest - triptychs that'd look right at home on the walls of MoMA, I says!

I could've posted a couple dozen of them as proof of its bizarre genius, but this one below especially spoke to me since I'd had the exact same conversation with myself just last night (although thankfully I was able to verbalize it to the boyfriend):

Stinky, your Julia Ormond photo keeps cracking me up every time I look at it.

And it is! So weird. Such a random thing to do, and it succeeded in such a surprising way. I'd totally hang one on my wall.

I remember about a year ago there was another site that just removed all the speech balloons from Garfield, turning it into a rather Dadaesque creation. I wonder what it is about Garfield that leads to all this?

I like these strips a bit more, Jon usually can be counted on for a laugh.
