Quote of the Day

EW.com has an interview with John Carpenter up; mostly they chat about Vampire mythology, in reference to the Starz documentary Bloodsucking Cinema that airs this Friday in which he appears (presumably to chat up his turd film Vampires from 1998), but they do ask him about Rob Zombie's remake of his Halloween, and here's what he has to say:

EW: Speaking of recycling, have you seen the Rob Zombie Halloween movie yet?

John Carpenter: I have not yet, no.

EW: Well, all this talk about mythology, Zombie took one of your films, a classic horror movie, and used a lot of the mythology and back story from that for his movie. It's kind of like your story has become mythology in and of itself.

JC: Well, God bless him. I can't really comment on it, and if I do see it, I won't comment on it, because that's his film. Rob's a friend, and I wouldn't diss him.

What I take from that is he's seen it, hated it, and he's being as diplomatic as possible. Am I nuts?

I would like to believe your theory on this. It seems strange that he wouldn't have seen it yet since he did help write it, didn't he? Unless he really doesn't give a shit either way and only wants to cash a check. Which might be the case as well.
