Harvey's Dead

.

My pal Sean was sadistic kind enough to forward me this news this morning, via SciFi:

Weinsteins Snap Up New Dead

The Weinstein Co. snapped up North American rights, including Mexico, for George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead at the Toronto Film Festival, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie is the latest sequel to Romero's 1968 horror classic Night of the Living Dead.

Putting the words "Weinsteins" and "dead" in the same sentence was a cruel tease!

But just... yeah. Y'all know what expletives lie within my hearing of this news. I do feel as if I can give them the benefit of the doubt, this being George fuckin' Romero, that they'll treat the movie well, release it in real movie theaters with some kind of advertising budget. Maybe?

Word on the movie has been... I'll be kind and say it's been mixed. I've read more despairing reactions than good, but there have been good notices. I just want to see for myself.

It's my favourite Romero movie since Night of the Living Dead.
