I love that movie. Almodovar is absolutely brilliant and Penelope should just make every movie with him.
I love her in it too. It was enough for me to stop hating her actually; I reeeeeeeally disliked her before Volver... based entirely on her horrible performance in Vanilla Sky actually. And I agree, she should just with with Almodovar from now on, or just work in Spanish maybe.

She really is a great actress when she sticks to Spanish and is in good movies (hence why she sucked in Vanilla Sky)
I saw AAMM after Volver; I went on a big Almodovar kick after loving Volver. And yeah, Penny Cruz was terrific in that, too. Though it was a smaller part.
I think people are going to hate me for saying this, but I think this film is overrated. Her performance was strong, and most would agree. But the film had serious flaws. I think Talk to Her and All About My Mother are far superior. I was disappointed with this film.
I was surprised that 1) I saw this movie in theaters, and 2) I really, really liked it. I thought Penelope was great in it, but probably less than others.
