Continuing on my quest to squeeze out every little drop of info out there on this Cloverfield thing, here's a bit of what JJ Abrams wrote to AICN last night:

"Regarding the online stuff you posted: yeah, we're doing some fun stuff on the web. But, obviously, if the movie doesn't kick some massive ASS, who gives a rat's about what's online? So as you can imagine, we're focusing mostly on THAT. For what it's worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us."

ETA (I'm just gonna keep adding links to this post since I keep finding them this morning) Thanks to FilmIck for finding this site for Slusho ("You Can't Drink Just Six!"), a fake beverage that apparently was first seen on Alias and is now the fake title for the Cloverfield (also not it's real name) production on the streets of LA. Also, as seen to the right there, our current obsession Mike Vogel, in a grab taken from the trailer by FilmIck, is wearing a Slusho T-shirt. Hrm.

So complicated, this puzzle. I'll just sit back and wait for others to figure this shit out.
