Fiona Shaw Is Today's Mood

A very happy birthday to one of my favorite actresses out there - Fiona Shaw, who turns 49 today.

Ramona Linscott (Fiona Shaw),
The Black Dahlia

"Go to Hell, you peasant!"

Shaw first came to my attention in Neil Jordan's The Butcher Boy, a film I adore in good part because of her performance as the put-upon (to put it mildly) Mrs. Nugent. Since then she's made her most widely-seen mark as Harry Potter's unfriendly (again, to put it mildly) Aunt Petunia, and then last year she tore down the scenery and ate right through the celluloid in Brian DePalma's The Black Dahlia as Hilary Swank's unstable (yes, mildly) mother.

In real life, Fiona Shaw was romantically linked with actress Saffron Burrows but I can't find info on if they're still together or not. All that said, Fiona Shaw is a cool ass lady and I always perk up whenever she's onscreen, and knowing that Aunt Fiona's role, as of the sixth book, may become very important to the Harry Potter story has made me incredibly excited to see her role in the films maybe amp up, too.

For some more on her Black Dahlia capital-P Performance, check out what StinkyLulu had to say and what Glenn had to say at Stale Popcorn.

JD, I don't know why I hadn't just switched to the word verification thing. I guess I kept forgetting to. But glad it makes you happy! I figured it'd ease the actual process of having a conversation in the comments, not waiting for me to approve everything. Fingers crossed I stay spam-free though.

Well, if there is any, just delete it when you get to it. Simple.
