I Am Monday Morning's Brief Link

--- So have I mentioned my birthday's coming up? From AICN:

"Joss Whedon... is auctioning off a three-hour dinner with himself to benefit “Equality Now,” which works to prevent – among other things – the stoning of young women. I think this is a cause most of us can get behind. Except perhaps those of us who think womens be thinking too much... If you’re interested in dining with Joss Whedon and/or putting an end to all that stoning, you are encouraged to click here."

I totally hate stoning. And I love Joss! Win win, people. Win win.

--- Jaime Lee is a liar - The original Scream Queen's claims of retirement have turned out, kinda predictably, to be untrue. Unfortunately the project she has lined up isn't exactly blowing my mind. From DH:

"Jamie Lee Curtis has joined Walt Disney Pictures' lost-dog comedy "South of the Border" says Reuters. The story centers on a spoiled Beverly Hills Chihuahua (voiced by Drew Barrymore) who becomes lost in Mexico and must rely on her new friends to help her get back home. Curtis will play Aunt Viv, the dog's owner and one of two (the other being Piper Perabo) live-action characters in the film."

Jaime Lee's got a history of making what-should-be mediocre projects way better than expected with her winning presence, but this time... I'm not so sure. I liked this movie when it was called Homeward Bound and I was 15 years old. I'd say she should've made her return-to-acting playing Michael Myers in Rob Zombie's Halloween. Or in her hubby's next movie... or playing a certain god-son's mother in something... oh, if only!

--- The Man of Steel Delays Steals Our Hearts - Seems Bryan Singer's maybe probably definitely going to do his long-delayed Harvey Milk biopic before he gets around to a Supes sequel. But first he's got to take Germany hostage with Tom Cruise antics for Valkyrie, of course. So much on that man's plate!

Speaking of plates, I think Brandon Routh might starve to death if they don't get this thing going soon. Think of the children, Bryan!

ETA --- You can watch the trailer for Ang Lee's Brokeback follow-up (I think from now on every film he makes will be named in relation to how post-Brokeback it is; sorry Ang!) Lust, Caution, starring Tony Leung and Joan Chen, right on here...

Hmm, oddly I've never seen it. The original 70s version was one of my favorite movies as a kid (I've seen it a few times as an adult, and it is pretty funny). But I love Halloween, though she seemed nervous through the whole thing (even before the climatic chase scene).
