Harry Potter and the Deathly News Round-Up

So seems that Naomi Watts, Stuart Townsend and Joseph Fiennes are denying those rumors of their casting for the 6th Harry Potter film, says MTV Movies Blog:

"... producers are already moving forward with casting for the series’ sixth installment, “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince,” report several websites, all of whom indicate that Naomi Watts, Joseph Fiennes, and Stuart Townsend are set to soon join our intrepid Hogwarts heroes.

But these would-be Rita Skeeters might need to give their sources a healthy dose of Veritaserum - that is, if you believe representatives for the actors in question, all of whom unequivocally denied their clients’ involvement.

“Not true,” declared representatives for Naomi Watts, who was rumored to be playing the role of Narcissa Malfoy (and we think she’d do an awesome job, by the way. Heck, we picked her for the role last month!)

“These reports are not true,” echoed representatives for Joseph Fiennes. “Not true” was also stated by Townsend’s reps."

So what, they're too good for it??? No no, I get it, they haven't signed anything, deny deny deny til the ink is dry, whatever.

In other wizarding news, JK Rowling's given a couple of interviews now that the crazed Potter-philes, like me, have finished the last book; EW's got a rundown of what she said on The Today Show this morning - which involves spoilers! - and USA Today has an interview with her - which is spoiler-free... unless you click here, where she talks about spoilers.

I just adore her (I just finished watching the interview on MSNBC). I'm kind of floored by the character she mentioned SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER killing off that she gave the reprieve. I was a bit shocked that she was considering killing Mr. Weasley in Book 5 (that would have just been crushing for Harry, I think, and would have altered Ron so much that I think the rest of the books would have been dramatically different). Does anyone else agree?

Yeah, I'm glad Mr. Weasley survived too. I remember reading the fifth book I really had thought she'd killed him, and was SO HAPPY when he survived that snake attack. Killing either of the Weasley parents would've been a mistake, I think; Harry already lost his own parents, and killing one of his, for all intents and purposes, adoptive parents would've been too much. I mean, yes Dumbledore and Sirius were both sorta adoptive parents, but I don't think we ever warmed to either of them like we did the Weasleys who were there in a much realer, hands-on, loving way since the first book.

You're right-Sirius and Dumbledore seemed to be more mentors or heroes than actual parents, much like the Weasleys.

And couldn't you just listen to J.K. Rowling talk on and on about the books for days-it's absolutely incomprehensible the amount of knowledge she has on the books, and she's so good at giving out different bits and pieces about the books: I know it's all fictional (and not even in the books), but I still love the fact that Ron and Harry work together (according to the interview). I can't wait for tomorrow's installment.
