Bloc Party

I'd been meaning to say something about the Bloc Party concert I saw last Friday, but hadn't found any pictures of it til just now (via Stereogum) - here are a bunch of pics at Pitchfork.

I'd been wanting to see an all-out rock show (sorry Sufjan, you're not precisely rockin', what with the butterfly wings and lilting melodies and all - I love ya, though!) for awhile now, where I could, ya know, let down my hair ;-) . While I was a big fan of BP's first album, their second most recent album, A Weekend In The City - besides a couple of songs, like "Song For Clay" and "Hunting For Witches" - hadn't really grabbed me. But they still seemed like they'd put on a good, rockin' show - and damn was I right.

They're fantastic live; if you at all like any of their music, I implore you to see them in person. They literally, like Pitchfork said, brought the ceiling down. Really, really fantastic show, and lead singer Kele Okereke sounds amazing live.

And as a side-note, we gotta support our openly gay rock singer brethren, ya know?
